In the words of Barbara Hanrahan: History Festival 2026

  • Goodwood Books 145 Goodwood Road Goodwood, SA, 5034 Australia (map)

Join Pink Shorts Press and Goodwood Books as part of South Australia's History Festival for an evening celebrating the words of Barbara Hanrahan – feminist author, artist and visionary. Hear local literary legends perform readings and discuss Hanrahan's artistic eye and influence.

Featuring Jo Case, Tracy Crisp, Farrin Foster and Arantza Garcia.

Barbara Hanrahan (1939–1991) may be best known as a printmaker, with over 450 works in the National Gallery of Australia, but she published fifteen books during her lifetime, many connected to her life in Adelaide, and her own creative journey. Her debut memoir, The Scent of Eucalyptus, is still well-loved, and two of her novels, Sea Green and Annie Magdalene, have been recently rereleased by Pink Shorts Press.

Tea and snacks will also be provided, with a chance to browse Goodwood Books' amazing collection of books with twentieth-century women writers.

Tickets available here.
