The workshop
The same tools we use for bestsellers also work for brands, big or small: editing, narrative and tone of voice. This is professional development, taught by professional editors, for professionals of all kinds.
-
Find new ways to approach editing, narrative and brand voice to create strategic cut-through with comms and content of all kinds.
Develop a practical style guide to help you and your team stay on the same page (commas are important).
Close your laptop, pick up a pencil, engage your creativity and critical thinking, and embrace the weird and wonderful in a sea of sameness.
-
A half-day workshop, offered in-person at our Adelaide Arcade space, or we can come to you. (Get in touch to explore online options or a different format for your team-building day or conference.)
-
Private and public sector professionals, as well as marketing agencies and independent business owners – anyone who wants help with words.
The newspaper
Take your story from the internet and into the actual hands of your community – like a long-form business card, but more fun. Print is back (or never left).
-
A tangible marketing tool that looks more beautiful than a shiny brochure, and has more to say than a sticker.
Use it as a poster, send it in the mail, or drop a stack at your local.
Counter content fatigue with offline storytelling to engage your clients and find new audiences.
-
An old-school A3 full-colour newspaper of four pages (one sheet) or more. (Get in touch to explore a custom zine, book or other print product.)
-
Businesses, organisations and creators who want to make something special.
The publishing talk
In this choose-your-own-adventure of how books get made, we’ll guide you through the publishing process – with fun facts for readers and hot tips for writers.
-
Learn the ins and outs of submissions, agents, printing and distribution – everything involved in turning a manuscript into a bestseller.
Discover what the editing and marketing process can look like for authors.
Find out why you maybe should judge a book by its cover.
-
An engaging one-hour (or more) presentation, with lots of time for questions.
-
Libraries, schools, book clubs, writers centres, groups and festivals – anywhere with interested readers and writers.

We are both editors first and foremost, so we love working on editorial consultancy projects and custom book projects for businesses; get in touch to tell us more. When it comes to traditional publishing, we are not available for manuscript assessments, but we are open for submissions.
We (Margot Lloyd and Emily Hart, aka Pink Shorts Press) have over two decades of combined experience in publishing and marketing. We have worked with prime ministers, sports stars, chocolate factories, universities and art galleries, not to mention award-winning authors, helping them shape stories from raw ideas to polished prose.
